Rebecca West's Political Thought
This research aims to provide a comprehensive account of Rebecca West’s political thought. It identifies and appraises Rebecca West’s theories of sexual strife; fascism; the allure of Communism to Western intellectuals; the complementarity of “nationalism” and internationalism; the decline of authority; liberalism; the meaning of the Dreyfus case; and the nature of treason in the modern age. My contention is that Rebecca West is an underappreciated students of politics and that her political thinking is of immense benefit to the liberal tradition.
